I noticed that a lag issue appeared which didn't exist a few days ago. You can see it every minute or so. Perhaps some background process on the server interferes?

Please do something about it.

Please tell me what I should do about it. I have no idea what to look for.

Someone noticed longer loading times and suggested it may be connected. He was right. I just measured 120 seconds for loading Gazaps (used to be 73 with no compatibility mode). It's a huge difference. Could any of these have changed:
  • Compatibility modes for BF1942_w32ded.exe or BFServerManager.exe;
  • CPU frequency;
  • CPU turbo mode;
  • the CPU itself;
  • CPU is perhaps overheating?

Yes I did some compatibility mode testing on Sunday, try again now.

During the event I didn't notice any lag (besides the usual client side fps "lag" on Coronet).

I think this lag was absent today and yesterday. Loading time is back to normal too.

So was the compatibility mode the culprit? If I remember correctly I first noticed the lag on Saturday or earlier (but I hadn't played for a few days before that), but you said "I did some compatibility mode testing on Sunday".

In any case, when an unexpected issue appears the first thing to check is: what has changed around the time the issue appeared.

I'll post again if I see the same issue again.

I don't think the compatibility mode has to do with the lag because I set it after you mentioned the lag. Before that day I hadn't touched the server in at least a week.

Yeah, today I noticed it lagging just a couple of times on Arnhem. It doesn't happen as often as it used to. It either freezes for half a second or so (unrelated to capturing flags) or it's as if you go back in time half a second. I noticed it tends to happen when the server auto announcements show up. That suggests it may be related to writing to BFServerManager.log or to disk writes in general.

We'll see how it goes in the future.
