This thread compiles all kinds of modifications to FHSW client files
which do not block the ability to play online with the latest released version
If you search for tips for graphical improvements without additional game files, look into our BF42tweak collection

  • Historical Sound & Textures
    The famous improvement package with custom sound and textures, originally a compilation of Mr_Cheese's textures and GeRmAn~Bratwurst's sound pack for FH1 which has been adjusted for use with FHSW and equipped with completely new sounds by BigV.

I have created new fire sound for heavy machine gun DShK38 using great and free application "Audacity 2.0.5."
Radio/eYe/Mayer you can put this in S&T pacage (if you like it). Here is the download link to wav files. If you want to hear new sound, unpack sound.rfa which is in STFHSW directory using winRFA and move new files to "44khz" directory and pack it.

One thing bugs me though: There's a sound in the background which loops approximately every 0.5 seconds. If you listen closely you should hear it. Are you able to remove it?

Very good try Slobo. In my opinion though, feature films (professional, full length story movies) or other games seem to be much better source of sounds than YT. Why? Plenty of the YT films are amatour recordings, captured with cheap and crappy microphones, which causes sound to be clipped. For example we've got nice sounds ripped off of the marvellous Saving Private Ryan, like Flak 20mm, Browning MG or Tiger's distant sound.

it also came to my mind to make a winterskin for the t-28, it's a shame that only finnish troops got it on the map (which is weird imo)

das letzte kann ich bei mir nicht finden!overwrite und den ordner stfhsw hab ich auch nicht
wo muss es dann hin??
werde das wohl hinbekommen!nur das ich nicht irwo was hininstalle und mein spiel läuft nicht mehr!!darum geht es
bevor ich mir das lade!wollte ich mal fragen die beschreibung auf englisch kann ich ja entziffern wo ich das alles hin kopieren muss ist ja beschrieben! habe bei mir unter mods fhsw und nirgens stfhsw stehen!und die anderen sachen muss ich ja schritt für schritt installen geht ja nicht anders wenn ich die anderen sachen nicht habe!

Hast du auch noch nicht bevor du es installierst (stfhsw bedeuted fhsw sound&texturen). Nach dem entpacken des Ziparchivs sollen die Ordner FHSW und STFHSW mitsamt ihren Inhalt in den Mods Ordner verschoben werden, dabei muss eine FHSW Datei (init.con) überschrieben werden. Also auf Ja klicken wenn Windows nachfragt.

Dazu müssen dann noch die Leveldateien geladen werden.

Does the lightmappack cause problems with the server? I mean it contains changes on the level files ... would this affect the compatibility?

No it only modifies the client side, like everything posted in this thread, so it won't block your ability to play online.

Yeah i was quite unsure since I thought map changes have to be made server side with ssm  that everybody can join a map.

None. The S&T file for FHSW 0.51 adapted by eye simply lacks level files.
and the fixed level files by myself (download underneath) work with 0.51

also that is exactly the reason why i deleted the old instruction
