[Help needed] Making a Trailer

Hi,

shortly after watching the Battlefield 1 trailer I thought about remaking it in FHSW. I think it would be a cool community project. :)



Of course it won't look as good but almost every scene can be done in FHSW, we have horses, artillery, shovels, flamethrowers, ships, a train,...

Four scenes I could do by myself for the rest (34!) I ask the community for help. I have created a minimod which has the required scenes already setup, only missing are the actors. Some scenes I only need one player for others 6+, the more the better of course.

Awesome idea!
I have a suggestion: Since FHSW has no zepellin, we could use this insane HE111 Z + Me Gigant glider combination (from Desert Rose) for the final scene.

Next week I have time every evening and I would be willing to join the shooting.

Germany has public holidays today so I'd like to film the scenes which only require 2 to 3 players if possible. Is someone available 4 pm or later?

Interesting idea, I thought about using the Ratte, He111Z is a bit fast and doesn't cast the shadow I need.

Three scenes I have no idea how to recreate them:

@0:24: handcranking the tank
@0:46: pulling the trigger on the artillery gun
@0:48: soldier blocking his ear inside a tank

soldier blocking his ear inside a tank ... maybe u can use the animation if a soldier duck for cover on an MG behind sandbags ... but how to move it inside a tank sad wacko ?!?!

For the artilliery part we could use all these Japanese howitzers at Manchuria. So we have more variety in factions.

Are you planning to shoot the naval combat with the dogfight over open sea on the new version of Leyte Gulf Day 2 (1.3) ??

As artillery I used the Br-5 because it's the biggest gun. But I have other scenes with Japanese equipment planned.

I've cut the scenes to fit with the trailer and for the most part I can only use 1 or 2 seconds then there's already the next scene but so far I could use everything. The horse scenes are going to look rather comical. Really curious about the end result though.

Everyone okay with Friday @5 pm? I have scenes where I only need 1 to 3 players so you can join later, too. But for three scenes I'd like to have at least 8 players.

Try to be there

I think it´s OK to let the single scenes be more then one or 2 seconds. I would suggest to use the scenes in that line they are good in graphics and screenplay and use as long as possible, so the pleasure would be greater in watching.

I've uploaded a new version of the trailer mod, link in first post:

- Desert Rose for Horse scene (was suggested and I agree, it fits better than Gazala)
- added a church to Apennines
- added Iwo Jima for first scene
- altered Valirisk a bit (we might have to redo the scene, I don't really like the camera angle, my fault sorry)

Shoot it on Battle of Britain or Gold Beach, because of all the barrage balloons in the background.
nail club kill -> I decided to use the Katana because it's a unique weapon, is Japanese and has the two animations I need (horizontal and vertical swing)
shovel kill -> I picked Ilomantsi because of the good-looking terrain and to show Fins

Desert Hill has good looking dunes, plus rocky hills and dust storms. There are a couple of locations that looks similar to the trailer's. Desert Rose has less convincing dunes and I can't find a location that looks as good as Desert Hill's.
These scenes are already filmed. I used Gazala.

@0:24: handcranking the tank
Show the animation for traversing or elevating some artillery piece.

@0:27: 5 horses strafed by British biplane, rocky hills in the background
I suggested Desert Rose for this one for the fact that it has a Swordfish and hills. On further examination Desert Hill's terrain may be even better.
I need flat terrain in front of hills to be able to follow with the camera and there's a really good spot on Desert Rose in the south-west. I thought about Desert Hill, too but it has a really bad ground texture (everything looks the same).

@0:33: massive dogfight over steep mountains on two sides, a church and barrage balloons.
There isn't any map quite like this, but there are some things which come close. Battle of Britain has a hill on one side, a factory and barrage balloons; Gazaps has steep mountains on two sides and a church. Apennines with an added church would be close, too.

@0:46: Shell being loaded, view through muzzle
Of all cannons in FHSW I've only seen the Churchill AVRE's petard mortar to show visible ammunition appear in the chamber when it is loaded. Other than that, some rocket artillery pieces also show visible ammunition. I wonder what you have in mind for this.
I have something in mind, I have to see if I like it though.

@0:46: artillery crewman blocking his ear; and

I think we could use a few frames from the animation of the Katana. It looks a bit like the arms are covering the ears and we can keep the Katana itself out of view. Alternatively, the "Fire in the hole" animation could be used (left hand around the ear). For the one that is inside a tank - shoot it inside the Ratte.
Fire in the hole animation sounds good, I also like Robert's idea of using the MG cover animation. And today I remembered the FHR mod, when you fire a mortar the soldier blocks his ears.

@0:46: pulling the trigger on the artillery gun
Instead of pulling the trigger we could shoot an officer gesturing a fire command.
Good idea but I can't see an animation when doing the fire command. sad
